Few countries in Africa offer such a variety of spectacular landscapes: giant sand dunes, vast gravel plains, high mountains, bizarre rock formations, deep canyons, waterfalls and bush savannah. Namibia also hosts numerous national parks, among them world famous Etosha, the best place in Namibia to see a great diversity of the African mega fauna including elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetah, giraffes and herds of zebras with the backdrop of the glaring white salt pan during the dry season.

We can work together to custom-design a trip that is perfect for you and your small group. The best time to see wildlife is during the drier months between May and November. It is advisable not to travel during the rainy season that usually occurs from December to April. Below is a list of options to consider when designing the ultimate Namibia experience:

  • Accommodations: Luxury camps/lodges
  • Bush flights and/or ground transportation between destinations
  • Some of the highlights in Namibia: Namib Desert with Sossusvlei, Kaokoveld to visit the Himba tribe, Etosha National Park, Huab River or Hoanib River to see desert elephants, Skeleton Coast, Fish River Canyon, Epupa Falls in the far north, Swakopmund, diamond ghost town Kolmannskuppe, old Bushman paintings at Twyfelfontein, private nature reserves
  • Balloon rides
  • Sight-seeing flights
  • Horse-back riding

The infrastructure in Namibia is good except for the northwestern part of the country. In order to cover large distances and save time it is advisable to charter a plane between certain points of interest. Many locations can be reached by either paved or gravel roads that are usually in decent shape.
Even in the remotest places we can find luxury camps and lodges that offer stunning scenery, great wildlife viewing or unforgettable cultural experiences.

All four Focus Expedition team members have spent years in Namibia, leading trips and photographing extensively in every corner of the country. Together they have published books, calendars and numerous articles about this African jewel. Their excellent insider knowledge about Namibia will guarantee you an unforgettable experience in this spectacular, diverse and colorful country.

“We often get asked: What is your most favorite place in the world? Namibia is on the top of the list. Not only because it is one of the few countries in the world besides Germany where you can get a real Bratwurst with Sauerkraut! We are also fascinated by the stark beauty of the Namib Desert, the abundance of wildlife even outside the national parks, and the still largely intact traditional culture of the Himba tribe. Namibia is our home in Africa. We keep a fully outfitted Land Cruiser parked in Windhoek, always ready to hit the road when we return to Namibia once or twice a year.”

“We have spent many extended sessions in Namibia, traveling its entire length and breadth more than once by road. It is a land of outstanding beauty, a place to refresh the soul and be at one with Nature. We have also lead many trips to the country, using a combination of small aircraft skimming over the waves of the skeleton coast, beaten up Land Rovers in which we have slid down vast sand dunes, hot-air balloons or luxury safari vehicles to arrive at our 5 star camps. Of all the tribes we have spent time with in the world it is the Himba of the arid north that stand out as our favorite. We have camped on several occasions, in pup tents, within their villages for lengthy stays and become entranced by their incredible way of life.”
