May – June, 2018 (exact dates depend on full moon)
This exclusive small group East African safari will offer you a unique mix of primitive cultures and wildlife experiences in Kenya. The adventure starts in Amboseli National Park with classic views of large elephant herds with Africa’s tallest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, in the background. From here we fly by bush plane to Lake Turkana in northern Kenya’s Rift Valley where we will participate in one of Africa’s largest tribal festivals. The event will feature unique performances and cultural traditions of 14 different ethnic tribes which live in the region east of Lake Turkana. After the festival, our last stop is Samburu which will surprise us with wildlife species that are only found in northern Kenya. This diverse national reserve with its semi-arid climate hosts many elephants, a number of antelope species, ostriches, lions and cheetahs. And Samburu is one of the best places in Kenya to see and photograph the elusive leopard.
Focus Expeditions is one of the few companies offering this unique opportunity to visit Lake Turkana. We will have ideal opportunities to see, experience and photograph the various tribes and their primitive lifestyles. This is a trip not to be missed.
